Apple Picking

Sept 2023 - The Apple Station, Union Springs, NY

Fall time in New York quickly translates to beautiful colors and apple picking. We are lucky to have an abundance of amazing apple farms nearby which was perfect for a quick overnight trip on Skuhlie. As I had to work Saturday morning Don took Skuhlie to The Apple Station in Union Springs and waited for me there. Lucky and Don had an opportunity to hang out and enjoy walking among the apples before I arrived. Don was able to enjoy a tasting of their wines, ciders, and even an apple-based whiskey produced by The Apple Station. And although it was past closing when I arrived, they were hosting an event in their beautiful event center so they allowed me to sample and pick a couple of hard ciders to enjoy in the bus. 2023 was a very rough year for the apple farms in New York State due to a late spring frost that damaged most of the crop for many farmers. You definitely would not know this was an issue at all while visiting The Apple Station because their trees were literally dripping with apples, and that was one of the most beautiful apple production sites I'd ever seen.

Since The Apple Station is a harvest host site, we were able to spend the night among the apple trees, we pulled out our chairs and enjoyed a lovely evening on the farm. A great short trip!
